SDG Pioneers English
The search is on for the 2019 SDG Pioneer
As part of the Making Global Goals Local Business campaign, each year the UN Global Compact recognizes a class of SDG Pioneers - young and future business leaders working at any level of the company who are using business as a force of good to advance the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The SDG Pioneers play an important role to drum up interest in the Global Goals and how the UN Global Compact is empowering businesses to do so.
For the first time, the SDG Pioneer challenge starts this year with a local round. Any Young Professional (35 and under) that works at company that is part of Global Compact Network can join, if the company joined before the September 30th 2018 and signed at least one Communication of Progress (CoP). This can be checked through this database. The position of the participant within the company does not matter. Potential pioneers can nominate themselves, but CEOs of UN Global Compact participating companies can also nominate their outstanding young employees!
After an internal as well as external evaluation, the winner will be announced in May. He or she will receive the title “2019 Global Compact Network Netherlands SDG Pioneer”, that also comes with global recognition. This opens doors, for example through speaking opportunities and by being an advocate of Global Compact The Netherlands. Besides, it presents the opportunity of becoming one of five Global SDG Pioneers, which will be announced in September at the 2019 UN General Assembly in New York.
